Crit Lab/MAPSpace Cooperative 2026
This is a cooperative program between artists, MAPSpace, and The Crit Lab. This program is led and run by the artists. A Crit Lab artist must be the point-person. Critters may invite or curate other artists to join.This is an opportunity to develop professional ideas with peers both in and out of the Lab. This includes curating solo or group exhibitions, and designing programs such as workshops, talks, poetry readings. The space can be used as a temporary studio, or to install work for professional photography.
Some Ideas:
-Solo exhibitions (with or without curator)
-Curated Group exhibitions
-Have an installation that has never been realized?
-Need a setup for professional photography?
-Want to host a program, a workshop, a talk, a reading?
-Need a temporary studio to realize large scale work?
-Longer term studio rental is possible with Open Studio event.

NOTE: This is not a proposal deadline, it is a letter of interest only.
Info for proposals will follow LOI.
Time frames are flexible from 2 weeks to several months. Shorter term or weekend programs are available depending on schedule.
Included with the space:
-Support and feedback on proposals
-Support on Installation Planning (implementation is responsibility of the artists)
-Designated webpage (content provided by artists)
-Instagram posts (content provided by artists)
-One Enewsletter Blast (sent to our list and for your use)
-Basic Liability insurance, insurance does not cover art

-POD and Online catalog
-Exhibition/Catalog essay
-Additional Social Media posts

Artist requirements:
-Installation Planning (help with planning if needed)
-Installation
-Deinstallation- including cleaning space
-All info website and enews: prepped in timely manner-curatorial statements, artist info, images
-Present for events, listed hours, or appointments
-Materials for install, programs, etc.
NOTE:
-Changes to space are possible by approval only. Space need to be returned to prior state
-No programming with unaccompanied minors is allowed
NOTE: There is a fee for this program; this fee covers the cost of the space only. This is a program to be led and run by the artists. This will offer opportunities for critters to develop professional ideas, programming, and professional photography for this program and in future.
Artists are responsible for all programming, installation, deinstallation, personing any programming. We will offer as much support as possible, and do our best to promote your programming in all our channels.
We hope the cost is reasonable enough, especially if shared, to make it viable. We understand that paying for opportunities is not always possible. This opportunity is not for everyone. If you have an amazing idea and have limited funds- please reach out to info@thecritlab.com.
Costs:
All programs include a $100 deposit above cost, returned after programming is complete. Time frame includes setup and breakdown. Cost includes basic liability insurance and electric.
Full Month: $900
2 Weeks: $475
